DASOCRATIC PLAN FOR “PEÑALBO” IN SOBRADILLO AND “CORRAL DE LOS BUEYES” IN SALDEANA, BOTH IN SALAMANCA PROVINCE

Promoted by: Regional Government of Castilla y León, Consejería de Fomento y Medio Ambiente. Year: 2014

The aim of this Project was to draft the Dasocratic Plan for two public forest lands in Salamanca, central Spain, called “Peñalbo” (MUPs 134) and “Corral de los Bueyes” (MUPs 140). Firstly, current legal, socioeconomic, natural and forest state of the stands was analysed. Additionally and based on previous analysis, guidelines were established for planning the forestry management practices of this stands to achieve their sustainable utilisation, protection and conservation.

These stands located in “Arribes del Duero” region are mostly agroforestry ones. This characteristic should be taken into account and included in forest management plan for the next 15 years to ensure an optimal utilization, conservation and enhancement of the stand.

These dasocratic plans will help to manage these forests and to achieve maximum stability of the stands by applying forestry methods focused on erosion protection, risk fire reduction, windthrow, safeward and pests control.
